kitHAUS review

kitHAUS builds small aesthetically pleasing prefab modules that have a variety of uses including guest houses, studios, in law units, pool houses and more. Standard models vary from modules as small as 64 sqft to as large as 330 sqft with custom models able to be combined and configured to customers tastes. Standard options for how to customize a kitHAUS can include bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor showers, and pergolas among other options.  One nice advantage of kitHAUS’ smaller modules is that many areas do not require permitting for structures under 120 sqft.

kitHAUS modules all feature a modern square design with floor to ceiling glass windows and sliding doors. They are all built with highly insulated SIPS (structural insulated panels) out of kitHAUS’ Southern California factory. kitHAUS modules are also used commercially by companies for booths, popups, and kiosks.

Strengths:

  • Aesthetics - very attractive, modern look

  • Easy to install - may not require permitting and some might not even need piping

  • Flexible - can function as one thing (e.g. a studio) at one point, and something else (e.g. a guest house) later in life

Reasons they might not be for you:

  • You don’t want something with a very small footprint

  • You love bathtubs - kitHAUS bathrooms come with showers
