Haus.me Review

Haus.me is a designer and manufacturer of 3D-printed modular homes based in Reno, Nevada. Homes from haus.me are marketed as fully-sustainable smart homes that can be used either in a typical residential setting and connected to traditional utilities or upgraded and used as a self-sustaining, off-grid home. Homes come in 3 different sizes - a one module studio with a kitchen and bathroom, a two module, 2 bedroom house, and a four module luxury home with 3 bedrooms. All homes from haus.me come standard with solar panels,  highly insulative walls and windows, water and air purification systems, and high-end smart home features such as; motorized cabinets, smart home appliances, and contactless faucets. Additionally, buyers have the option to customize their home on haus.me’s website and configure the floor plan, design scheme, and opt for upgrades including; remote controlled tinted windows, off-grid enabling batteries, water generation and purification systems, and extra hurricane and earthquake resistance. From a style standpoint, homes from haus.me include a mixture of modern, traditional, and Scandanivian design elements.

Logistically, homes from haus.me do not require a foundation but rather can be placed on a flat, gravelled lot however, local permitting may require a foundation in residential settings. Additionally, buyers looking to live in a residential setting will need to prepare the sight for utility hookups, though upgraded homes can operate without utilities such as electric, gas, and water. Other than that, homes arrive in a highly-finished state and can be move-in ready within one day of arriving on site.

It is worth noting that at the time of writing (January, 2021) haus.me has yet to deliver their first home, and plans to begin shipping its smaller homes in May, 2021 and its four module, luxury home later in 2021. Still, interested buyers can schedule a “test-drive” of a haus.me unit in Seattle, Washington.

Strengths:

  • Offer ultra-modern homes with a variety of smart home features

  • Off-grid upgrades and foundation-less capabilities allow for use in almost any location

  • Homes can be delivered next-day if buyers purchase an in-stock model

Reasons they may not be for you:

  • You want to work with a company with a proven reputation and longer operating history

  • You are looking for a more traditional home design and do not need a home with smart-home and luxury features
