Boxabl is a designer and manufacturer of prefab homes based in Las Vegas, Nevada. They offer one, 375 foot module design. For buyers looking for a larger home, modules can be stacked or connected for more space. In terms of design, their signature Casita model features a simple contemporary style, with sliding glass doors, shaker cabinetry, and wide plank flooring. No customization options are available at the moment. Boxabl’s homes are made from steel, concrete, and EPS foam. The walls, floor, and roof are made from structurally laminated panels that make Boxabl’s homes stronger and longer-lasting than the average building. Homes are built to be resistant to bugs, water, fire, wind, and mold. Their advanced insulation technology and LED lighting are highly-energy efficient and help homeowners save on energy costs. Interestingly, it is reported that Elon Musk lives in a Boxabl Casita. At the time of our last update (November, 2023), Boxabl is in the middle of a public fundraising round.
From a logistics standpoint, Boxabl’s homes can be bolted to any foundation type with their signature connector plates. Buyers can choose any foundation to match their location and soil type, from slab to pier foundation styles. Shipping is free to AZ, CA, NV, and UT, but buyers in other locations pay about $2/mile from Las Vegas in shipping costs. Homes come with furniture, appliances, HVAC, fixtures, plumbing, and electrical already included and arrive in a highly finished state. Normally, homes from Boxabl can be set up in just 1 day. While Boxabl handles design and delivery, buyers must work with a local contractor for installation and utility hookups.
