Ma Modular Review

Ma Modular is an Austin-based prefab and modular home architect and builder that makes attractive, modern-looking single-family homes. Ma Modular has 12 different models that range from one-bedroom to four bedrooms and one-story to two. Each model is some combination of rectangular modules and each appears to utilize modern high-end building techniques, appliances, and finishes.

One of the notable things about Ma Modular is that they partner with a number of different regional prefab manufacturers around the country. So in most areas of the country, Ma Modular would manage and design your home, a different manufacturer would build the modules in their factory, and then a local contractor, who is a partner of the manufacturer would do your site work and the on-site installation of the home. The advantage of this is it means that Ma Modular is able to have their homes built in many different parts of the U.S..

Strengths:

  • Value - the cost per sqft of Ma Modular is hundreds of dollars less per sqft than other high-end prefab home builders

  • Aesthetics

  • Geographic coverage - they build homes in areas like Texas and the mid-Atlantic where many of the west-coast located prefab home builders don’t

Reasons they might not be for you:

  • You want a home over 2300 sqft

  • You’re in the South or Northeast where they don’t build homes
