They offer 11 styles of single-family homes and ADUs, with pre-designed floor plans ranging from 480 square feet to 3,135 square feet. In terms of design, their homes feature a sleek modern style, with tall windows, sliding glass doors, and lots of natural lighting. Full exterior and interior customization options are available. Living Homes is a green company, and their homes can be built to meet LEED Platinum and net-zero standards. Their healthy design features include open floors, minimal duct work, and mold-resistant drywall.
All walls, floors, and ceilings are built on jigs to ensure homes are level and durable. Homes are built in a factory simultaneously with site work, with both requiring about 8-16 weeks. A general contractor then selects a transportation company and schedules delivery of the home modules. Homes ship more than 90% complete, with drywall, paint, mill work, tile work, and appliances already included. Once on site, a crane lifts the modules and lowers them onto the prepared foundation, where they are bolted down. Once the home is assembled, a general contractor will connect the water, sewer, electric, and appliances, and apply the finishing touches in about 6-12 weeks. While Living Homes ships anywhere in the United States, the further your site is from Plant Prefab’s Rialto, California factory, the higher shipping costs will be. They warn that their projects are only cost-competitive outside of California for high-end projects shipping to areas where local labor and traditionally-built homes are especially pricey.
