Champion Home Builders Review

Champion Home Builders is one of North America’s largest dealers of modular, mobile, and manufactured homes. Champion Homes is based in Troy, Michigan and has been operating for over 68 years. However, after a 2010 bankruptcy and a 2018 merger, Champion Homes now operates as a subsidiary of the Skyline Corporation, publicly traded as Skyline Champion Corporation (SKY). Champion still offers thousands of models, with standard floor plans ranging from 399 square feet to 3,000+ square feet. They build homes in a variety of styles including ranch, colonial, cape cod, chalet, and even park RVs. Exteriors often take on a traditional design with gable roofs, dormers, horizontal smartside siding, and porches. Interiors come with more luxury features like fireplaces, kitchen islands, lofts, walk-in pantries, cabinetry, full closets, spa baths, theaters, and even entertainment centers. Buyers get a wide variety of foundation options, from simple concrete slabs to full basements with their own stairwells.

After buyers pick a design, home modules are manufactured by one of Champion Home Builders’ 1,000+ local retailer partners at one of their 28+ facilities across North America. Once the manufacturing process has begun, it can often be completed in under 60 days. While Champion Homes is responsible for the manufacturing of the home modules, one of their local retailer partners works with buyers to obtain permits, prepare the site and foundation, and install utility hookups. Home modules arrive nearly complete at the build site, where they are set on a permanent or semi-permanent foundation, depending on the type of home that is purchased. While a member of the Champion Homes’ network manufactures the module and a local  retailer and builder completes construction and site work, Champion Home Builders does inspect the home at each phase of the build process.
